Zack McKinstry is a professional baseball infielder for the Detroit Tigers, known for his versatility and ability to play multiple positions across the field. Born on April 29, 1995, in Toledo, Ohio, McKinstry played college baseball at Central Michigan University before being selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 33rd round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Despite being a late-round pick, he worked his way through the minor leagues and made his MLB debut in 2020, quickly earning recognition for his defensive flexibility and solid offensive contributions.


After time with the Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs, McKinstry joined the Tigers, where he has become a valuable utility player capable of contributing at third base, shortstop, second base, and the outfield. Known for his high baseball IQ, consistent approach at the plate, and ability to fill multiple roles, he provides important depth and flexibility to Detroit’s roster.
