ABOUT
Tyler
Tyler Holton is a professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, known for his effectiveness as a left-handed reliever. Born on June 13, 1996, in Tallahassee, Florida, Holton played college baseball at Florida State University before being selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the ninth round of the 2018 MLB Draft. After progressing through the minor leagues, he was selected by the Tigers in the Rule 5 Draft, providing him the opportunity to make his mark at the major league level.
Holton made his MLB debut in 2023 and quickly became a valuable piece of Detroit’s bullpen, showcasing strong command, pitch efficiency, and the ability to handle high-leverage situations. His deceptive delivery and ability to limit hard contact have made him especially effective against both left- and right-handed hitters. As he continues to develop, Holton has established himself as a dependable reliever and an important contributor to the Tigers’ pitching staff.

Favorite Bible Verse:
Proverbs 3:5–6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”
This verse stood out to me in high school when I didn’t know what the future would hold. It helped take away stress and reminded me to trust God with my path, giving me peace that He’s in control.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My parents. From a young age, they’ve always supported me and my sister—through sports and life—giving us every opportunity to pursue our dreams and standing by us through both the highs and lows.
Brian Gilliland — my youth pastor and head pastor at Morningside Baptist Church. He was actually my baseball coach when I was seven and invited my family to church. That’s where we got plugged in, and he’s the one I prayed with to receive Christ.
Favorite Food:
A good steak dinner
Favorite Music:
A mix depending on the day—country, classic rock, punk rock, and more
Hobbies:
Getting into golf. I enjoy being able to stay active and still “hit something,” even if it’s not a baseball anymore.
