Tony Graffanino is a former Major League Baseball infielder known for his versatility and steady defensive play across multiple teams. Born on June 6, 1972, in Amityville, New York, Graffanino was drafted out of East Islip High School. He was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 1990 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in 1996 and went on to play for several organizations, including the Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, and Boston Red Sox, contributing as a reliable infielder at second base, shortstop, and third base.
Throughout his career, Graffanino was known for his baseball IQ, defensive consistency, and ability to fill multiple roles on the field. He was part of the Atlanta Braves' 1996-1998 Division Championship team and played in the NLCS. After his playing career, he remained connected to the game. Through UPI, he has been involved in mentoring and life coaching current and former professional players. As a chaplain he continues to share his knowledge and passion for baseball as he leads Bible Studies with players.
