What number(s) have you worn?
33
When did you first give your life to Christ and what led to that decision?
2015, I went to a vacation Bible retreat, broke down, and realized I have no identity outside of Christ.
How has your relationship with Jesus changed your life?
It has made me selfless, loving, and compassionate to everyone around me. It has completely altered my relationships and perspective on the good and bad of life.
What challenges has your faith overcome?
My lack of identity and when I feel like I didn’t have purpose when I didn’t get drafted.
What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about believing in Jesus?
I’ve never heard anyone regret a deep relationship with Christ. Give your all for a month and see what happens.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
It’s on every glove I have because I used to be afraid to fail, but I know that the Lord has not given me that spirit.
Favorite hobby outside of baseball?
I enjoy reading, solving puzzles, watching sports, DJing, and playing video games occasionally.
Fun fact about you fans might not know:
I can solve a Rubik’s cube.
What message do you hope fans take away after scanning your card?
I hope they understand what persistence, hard work, and the strength of God’s plan can do for them.
What advice would you give a younger athlete about faith and sports?
If you have Christ at the center and as your only audience, there is nothing to worry about.
So, What is the Gospel?
What if understanding the Gospel was as easy as running the bases? Good news. It is. Join Mickey Weston as he steps up to the plate and walks through the Gospel using the simple, familiar rhythm of baseball. From home plate to first, second, third, and back home, faith becomes clear, approachable, and unforgettable. No religious jargon, no pressure. Just Good News explained in a way that makes sense and brings you home.
