Kevin Seitzer is the hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners and a former Major League Baseball infielder known for his disciplined approach at the plate and deep understanding of hitting. Born on March 26, 1962, in Springfield, IL, Seitzer played college baseball at Eastern Illinois State College before being selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 11th round of the 1983 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in 1986 and went on to enjoy a 12-year playing career with the Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, and Cleveland Indians, earning two All-Star selections and building a reputation as one of the game's toughest hitters to strike out.

After retiring as a player, Seitzer transitioned into coaching and became one of baseball's most respected hitting instructors. When I got saved, I wore number 33 with the Kansas City Royals and wanted a verse that connected with my number. John 3:3 became that verse, and I’ve signed it with my autograph ever since.

Who has been the most influential person in your life?

Tom McDevitt — my college coach. He helped shape me into the player I became and taught me how to play the game the right way. My dad was also a tremendous influence growing up.

Who has impacted your spiritual journey the most?

Mike Lusardi — the chaplain for the Royals when I gave my life to Christ. He discipled me and helped establish a strong foundation in my faith. Baseball Chapel also played a major role throughout my playing career.
