ABOUT
Drew
Drew Rasmussen is a professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, known for his electric arm and effectiveness as both a starter and reliever. Born on July 27, 1995, in Puyallup, Washington, Rasmussen played college baseball at Oregon State University, where he was part of a national championship team. Despite undergoing multiple elbow surgeries early in his career, he was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth round of the 2018 MLB Draft and worked his way back to reach the major leagues.
Rasmussen made his MLB debut in 2020 with the Brewers before being traded to the Rays, where he has flourished as a key member of their pitching staff. Known for his high-velocity fastball, sharp command, and ability to limit hard contact, he has been effective in a variety of roles, including as a starter in Tampa Bay’s rotation. His resilience and continued development have made him a valuable asset, and when healthy, he is considered one of the more dynamic arms on the Rays’ staff.

Favorite Bible Verse:
Dueteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My dad. When times are tough, he’s the one I call—and when things are going well, he keeps me humble. Watching him battle and overcome cancer when I was young showed me what it means to show up every day with positivity, energy, and perseverance.
Who has impacted your spiritual journey the most?
DJ Springmann and Duke Knutson. They pour into us daily—not just at chapel, but throughout the week. The way they live out their faith sets a high standard and gives me something to aspire to.
