Cade Smith is a professional baseball pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians, known for his power arm and ability to generate strikeouts out of the bullpen. Born on May 9, 1999, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Smith played college baseball at the University of Hawaiʻi before being selected by the Guardians in the 16th round of the 2020 MLB Draft. 1 Corinthians 6:9–11, Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Verses 9–10 remind us that everyone is guilty of sin and in need of a Savior. Verse 11 is especially meaningful because it says, "But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." My identity isn't found in being a baseball player—it's found in being washed, justified, and sanctified through Christ. Those truths never change, regardless of life's highs and lows.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My dad. He sacrificed countless hours to coach my siblings and me, traveled with us to tournaments, and consistently modeled integrity, love for my mom, and Christlike leadership in our family.
Who has impacted your spiritual journey the most?
My dad has had a tremendous influence on my faith. A high school teacher first challenged me to make my faith my own, and later a mentor named Matt helped disciple me during college and even officiated my wife and me's wedding. Mike Sutton and the ministry of Baseball Chapel have also been a tremendous encouragement during my professional career.

Hiking, kayaking, spending time outdoors, and learning golf
Pre-Game Routine:
I keep things very loose and flexible. As a reliever, I don't like rigid routines—I prefer to lock in only when it's time to compete.

Winning the Western Canadian National Championship with my dad on the coaching staff. More recently, helping the Cleveland Guardians win back-to-back division titles and experiencing postseason baseball has been incredibly special.
