ABOUT
Blake
Blake Treinen is a professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, known for his powerful sinker and ability to dominate hitters in high-leverage situations. Born on June 30, 1988, in Wichita, Kansas, Treinen played college baseball at Baker University and South Dakota State before being selected by the Oakland Athletics in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut with the Washington Nationals in 2014 and later pitched for the Athletics, where he developed into one of baseball’s premier relievers and earned an All-Star selection in 2018.
Treinen joined the Dodgers in 2020 and has been an important part of their bullpen, contributing to championship teams and regularly being trusted in crucial late-inning situations. His career has included battles with injuries, but when healthy, his combination of a hard, sinking fastball and sharp breaking pitches has made him extremely difficult to square up. With years of postseason experience and a reputation for remaining composed under pressure, Treinen has established himself as a respected veteran presence in the Dodgers’ pitching staff.

Favorite Bible Verse:
Proverbs 3:5–6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”
This is my life verse. It was given to me at one of the biggest crossroads of my young life. I’ve continued to come back to it whenever things don’t make sense. It reminds me that God still has a path for me, even when I can’t see or understand it.
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
My mom and dad, my Grandpa Ike, and my wife. Each of them has had a tremendous influence on who I am.
Who has impacted your spiritual journey the most?
I’ve been blessed with many godly people around me, especially my wife, parents, and grandparents. God has also brought pastors and other people into my life at different times who have encouraged me or shared something with me when I needed it. There isn’t just one person—God has used different people throughout different seasons of my life.

Hobbies:
I enjoy drawing and building things with my hands, especially woodworking and outdoor projects. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve also really enjoyed watching my kids try new things and spending time experiencing life with them.
Favorite Baseball Memory:
Game 5 of the World Series against the Yankees. God allowed me to pitch for more than two innings in that game, and we went on to win it in the following inning. Being able to contribute in such a huge moment is something I’ll never forget.
What advice would you give to an aspiring baseball player?
Work hard with what God has given you. Dream big, pursue those dreams, and bring your desires before the Lord—but remain humble enough to accept where He leads you. If baseball is the journey He has for you, pursue it wholeheartedly. If it isn’t, trust that He has a better plan. And even while pursuing baseball as a dream and vocation, never put it above God.
