ABOUT
Travis
I am a believer in Jesus Christ who is doing his best to step faithfully into where God has written for me to go. Originally from California, I did not grow up in the church but the Lord has been so steady and intentional in my story even when I did not yet know Him. Now having a relationship with Jesus Christ and His fellow believers, I do my best to step into His calling that He has blessed me with through the gifts that he has assigned for me to cultivate and use.

What led you to Christ?
I was moved by the Holy Spirit that I saw in other believers. My sinful nature was curious to the Light that surrounded them.
How has your relationship with Christ changed your life?
My relationship with Jesus Christ has not "changed" my life, it has given me true life! Before knowing Him, the fleeting life that the world promotes left me feeling empty again and again. My own quest to feel alive left me feeling empty over and over again. When I TRULY gave my life to Christ, my heart was being cared for and watered for the first time in my life; it was different. It has guided me in Truth and clear answers for how I am called to live; not the justifications we try to create when walking with Jesus. At first, I thought they were laws to live by and there was a pressure to live to those expectations. But truly, the relationship with Christ in my heart was the center of what faith looked like for me and inevitably, the actions that flowed from my renewed heart would bring true life to my days.
What challenges has your faith overcome?
The biggest challenge, my "self". Daily.
What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about believing in Jesus?
I would honestly share my testimony while also lovingly sharing the gospel and truth that is in scripture. I would listen to them. I would do my best to listen deeper beneath their words for what they are truly telling me. In that, I believe that the Holy Spirit would guide my words for them through surrendering to His Spirit. "Whether you know Him now, He knows you and He died for you on that cross so that you can be saved. He died and rose because of His love for you."
What are your favorite Bible verse?
Romans 11:29 " For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." This is my favorite verse because we are each uniquely equipped to participate in the body of Christ; uniquely gifted according to that calling. After getting retired form the White Sox, I got a "normal" job and began my life in corporate America. It didn't feel aligned to how the Lord created me. I have always been a dreamer, an entertainer, a person who loved to connect with others and I felt the Lord had gifted me with the ability to do each of these. When the opportunity presented itself to play Banana Ball, and as I spent more time in Savannah, I have never felt more sure that I am called and equipped to be exactly where I am. Now, this isn't the finish line. I believe that it is my responsibility, like the Parable of Talents, to multiply this opportunity by cultivating my gifts and giving all of the glory to Him for the story He has written for me.
Your sport is not God, Jesus Christ is. Your sport is a vehicle to know Him deeper, and a tool to become who you were created to be for His Kingdom.
My wife, Sydney. She has impacted my spiritual journey the most because marriage has truly been the most beautiful experience that reflects Christ's relationship with His church. Daily, the only way that I can truly be a great husband to her, is by drawing close and learning about Christ in a more intimate way.
What's your favorite food and go to music?
Steak and Country Music
Do you have a pre-game ritual or routine?
Prayer, meditation, and visualization
What advice would you give a younger athlete about faith and sports?
Your sport is not God, Jesus Christ is. Your sport is a vehicle to know Him deeper, and a tool to become who you were created to be for His Kingdom.
